Ancient Egypt has always fascinated us. In this webquest you will find out why. You may have had a lot of information during history lessons. Your visit to the RMO has given you lots of images of life and death in ancient Egypt. In this webquest you will get even more. We'll start with a story told by Omar Shariff to an American girl, who is interested in the mummy's curse, and wants to know all about Egypt and the tomb of the boy pharaoh, Tutanchamon. You will tell the story of Egypt and their pharaohs in your own words.After that you will read and study parts of the booklet on Mummies and find out more about life in ancient Egypt. There will be questions on every detail.The building of the pyramid at Gizeh will be the next item. You will watch how the pyramid was constructed and Pharaoh Khufu was buried in it.Your task will be to tell this story in some detail.

In the next step you are going to find out for yourself what hieroglyphs are. Are they just pictures or are they sound symbols ? While looking at the names of Cleopatra and Ptolemei, you will be in the footsteps of Champollion, who decoded the hieroglyph alfabet. It will be your task to decode names and discover the hieroglyph alfabet.
One of the famous Egyptologists was Howard Carter, who discovered the hidden tomb of Tutanchamon. You will watch the video of this great event and answer questions on this. And what do you think of the mummy's curse?
